Health Information
EMG/NCS

We do EMG/NCS studies. EMG measures muscle response or electrical activity in response to a nerve’s stimulation of the muscle. The test is used to help detect neuromuscular abnormalities. A related procedure that may be performed is nerve conduction study. Nerve conduction study is a measurement of the amount and speed of conduction of an electrical impulse through a nerve. NCS can determine nerve damage and destruction, and is often performed at the same time as EMG. Both procedures help to detect the presence, location, and extent of diseases that damage the nerves and muscles.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body. It is used to help diagnose sprains, strains, tears and other soft tissue conditions. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive and does not use ionizing radiation, and the test is painless. Our doctors have more than 10 years experience.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a hand and arm condition that causes numbness, tingling and other symptoms. It is caused by a pinched nerve in your wrist. It can be confirm by EMG/NCS testing. The treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome include resting, hand splint, non-steroid, anti-inflammation medication; oral steroid and median nerve block and surgery.

Osteoarthritis

More than 10 million Americans suffer from OA of the knee. Our doctors are expert in treating osteoarthritis. There are many ways to treat OA, such as physical therapy, steroid injection and knee lubrication injection. We do all the injections under ultrasound guide for more than 10 years. Ultrasound can help doctors put the needles inside the joint, it's less pain and more effective.

Diabetes complications include heart disease, stroke, kidney damage, circulation problem, nerve damage and eye problem. Here, patients would need to follow up with their doctors every 3 months for blood testing, which include fasting blood sugar, Hemoglobin A1c and lipid panel. Patients also need a routine eye exam and urine micro-albumin test yearly to detect the early eye and kidney problems. Doctors will perform a foot exam on every diabetic patient. If it's necessary, we will also perform nerve conduction test and ABI test on patients with leg numbness or foot pain.

Well Woman Exam

The Pap test is done during a pelvic exam. A doctor uses a device called a speculum to widen the opening of the vagina so that the cervix and vagina can be examined. A plastic spatula and small brush are used to collect cells from the cervix. After the cells are taken, they are placed into a solution. The solution is sent to a lab for testing. However, this exam can not be done during menstrual period and patients have to wait for 2 weeks after their menstrual period in order for doctors to perform the exam.
